To raise awareness of Youth Mental Health Day in September, me and the team at Specsavers Thorne and Armthorpe have supported a community event in Doncaster which encourages people to open up and talk about their mental health issues.
The Mental Health Mile initiative takes place weekly in Barnby Dun in Doncaster providing an inclusive environment for people to come together to exercise and talk about their wellbeing.

Now marked out permanently, the mile long route will enable those too shy to participate to take part at their own leisure whenever they like, and organisers have launched a closed Facebook group where members can have a safe environment to talk about their troubles and ask advice.
“I’d encourage more of the community to take part in the sessions, get in a few steps on the mile-long route, talk about any problems and share a coffee and cake with one another.”
All people are welcome to walk, jog or run at the events, with friends and family, dogs and children encouraged to take part and have fun, too.
If you do get out and do this mile walk please let us know how you got on
